SpotOnMedics, EHR software provider for physical therapists, continues under the umbrella of Health Cloud Initiative (HCI). This will give HCI a leading position in the physical therapy software market. The joining of forces enables both companies to better respond to the rapidly changing healthcare market and contribute to a higher quality of care.

"New laws and regulations and new forms of collaboration around the client continually place new demands on software and innovation," SpotOnMedics director Geert van den Enden motivates the merger. "With HCI as a partner, we can accelerate our innovations and serve the paramedical market even better."

More impact
"With SpotOnMedics, we are taking a leading position among physical therapists," said HCI CEO Marc Prette. "By combining the strengths of the various HCI solutions, the best software becomes available to an even larger group of professionals and clients. In this way, we can make an even greater impact to make care easier and better."

Sale VvAA
HCI acquires SpotOnMedics from professional association VvAA, which has fully owned the cloud software provider since early 2022. VvAA Chief Financial & Risk Officer Miranda Hendriks says that SpotOnMedics' operations do not sufficiently align with the VvAA portfolio. "Because SpotOnMedics is at its core a software company, there was less synergy with our products and services. Therefore, we decided to sell SpotOnMedics."

With HCI, Hendriks believes he has found an excellent new owner. "We are pleased to have reached this agreement. We are confident that HCI will provide the continuity that SpotOnMedics' customers and employees deserve."

Powerful platform
SpotOnMedics was founded in 2011 and offers an all-in-one platform that allows physical therapists to efficiently manage their practice processes from one online environment. That leaves more time for patient care. Following the acquisition, SpotOnMedics will continue to operate independently under the HCI umbrella, with the current team and from the Hoofddorp office. In time, the best features of the various HCI solutions will be merged into one powerful platform for paramedics.

Integrated portfolio
HCI offers an integrated portfolio of EHRs, patient environments and e-health solutions for a broad group of healthcare providers and their patients. With the addition of SpotOnMedics, HCI is now the market leader in physical therapy and supports one in four paramedics in the Netherlands. In total, 40,000 healthcare providers and 3.5 million clients use HCI solutions daily.
