Take future care into your own hands with technology
Care & ICT, largest health tech event in the Netherlands in Royal Jaarbeurs
Utrecht, Jan. 18, 2023 - Digital data sharing is the leitmotif of the Zorg & ICT event to be held in Utrecht from Tuesday, June 13 to Thursday, June 15. During Zorg & ICT, healthcare professionals will exchange knowledge and gain inspiration about the latest technologies and innovations for healthcare. Top speakers Marcel Levi, Helen Mertens, David Jongen and Jim Stolze will interpret their responsibilities on the main stage.
"It is impossible to imagine our modern world without ICT and it promises to play a crucial role in keeping healthcare feasible, affordable, efficient and patient-friendly," said Marcel Levi, internist and chairman of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO).
'In charge of the future' is the main theme of Care & ICT
Digitalization is crucial for the future of healthcare. Jim Stolze, tech entrepreneur and moderator: "A future-proof healthcare is about working together. Not only between people and people, but also between people and machines. If there is one place where data can make a difference it is healthcare."
Digitalization is a necessity
Dr. Helen Mertens, chairman of the board of Maastricht UMC+ and gynecologist (n.p.): "Social developments, technological possibilities, shortage on the labor market and the ever-increasing cost of healthcare make digitization not just a wish, but a necessity. More and more care is provided remotely or digital applications are developed and used in diagnostics and treatment. Not to mention consultations via image calling and access to online care portals. Smart, digital care offers unprecedented opportunities to deliver the right care in the right place, without patients and healthcare professionals losing control. With the Digital Care 2025 Strategy, we at Maastricht UMC+ are giving direction to this care transformation," explains Dr. Helen Mertens.
Preventing shipwreck due to limited care capacity
David Jongen, chairman of the board of directors of Zuyderland and chairman of the supervisory board of 's Heeren Loo, sees the limited available care capacity as a given. "There are a number of ways to deal with the increasing demand for care with less and less available staff. In doing so, we don't solve the problem but we move the shore a little further and further away so that the ship can still sail on. However, if we put all our efforts into limiting the demand for care and stabilizing the care capacity, then we have a real prospect of taking action. But then we really have to do it," says David Jongen.
Data availability and security
Care & ICT brings all relevant organizations and healthcare professionals under one roof. With over 200 exhibitors and various knowledge sessions and workshops, visitors will learn about new technologies for sustainable care. Topical topics such as virtual care, cyber security, data availability, healthcare Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and remote care are central "In charge of future" during Zorg & ICT 2023.
