The Dutch branch of healthcare IT company Nexus and RVC Medical IT will continue as a single company under the name Nexus Netherlands. By bringing together the product portfolio, Nexus aims to offer the Dutch healthcare sector the broadest integrated offering possible.
The name change underscores Nexus' strategic growth ambitions. With the fusion of expertise and technologies, the company expects to strengthen its position as an "innovative and leading player in the healthcare sector," according to a press release.
Capacity expansion
CEO Fred Hiddinga of Nexus Netherlands calls the merger "a crucial step in the joint ambition to transform healthcare in the Netherlands." "Together we significantly expand our capacity in the area of projects and product development," Hiddinga said. "In addition, we are focusing on Customer Success, in order to work on our partnerships with our existing customers in a good and structured way."

"The integration of our expertise and technology enables us to further accelerate the development of diagnostic software and offer our customers advanced solutions that contribute to better diagnostics and quality of care," adds RVC Medical IT CEO Joost van Geijn. "By integrating RVC's product line as part of the Nexus offering, we can offer our customers a broader and more complete service consisting of an electronic patient record (EHR), a diagnostic platform and related modules."
Customers
RVC Medical IT is originally an independent software provider offering image and data management solutions in the fields of radiology, cardiology, endoscopy and ophthalmology, among others. Its customers include hospitals such as UMCG, LUMC, MST, IJsselland, Anna Zorggroep, Saxenburgh and Ziekenhuis Laurentius.
Originally German, Nexus is best known in the Netherlands as a supplier of hospital information systems in the hospital, mental health and rehabilitation sectors. It also provides solutions for food logistics and medication preparation support. Outside the Netherlands, Nexus has an even broader portfolio that includes solutions for enterprise imaging, diagnostics, psychiatry and patient portals.

Unlike in Germany, for example, the Nexus and RVC Medical IT offerings have no overlap in the Netherlands. RVC Medical's solutions are now offered in the Benelux under the name Nexus Enterprise Diagnostics. Nexus Netherlands thus wants to offer hospitals the widest possible range. The step from specific solutions to an integrated total package does not mean that hospitals have to drop existing applications. In many hospitals, RVC solutions are hooked up to ChipSoft and Epic EHRs. The ability to interface with other systems will not change, according to a spokesman.
Majority share
By acquiring a majority stake, Nexus took the first step toward integration with RVC Medical IT in late 2020. In October of that year, Nexus acquired the share package from investor Main Capital. With that, RVC Medical IT formally became part of Nexus already. As of Feb. 19, the merger also took practical effect.
