This was done with support from the E-health Home Incentive Scheme (SET). The team works from the office and offers consultations via image calling. These range from daily structure support to medication management and wound care. For example, staff used to visit clients three times a day to administer medication; now this can be done remotely.

Employee retention

Aafke de Vrij, project leader for innovation and development at Zorgwaard: "Of our six image care team members, four have a physical disability. Thanks to image care, we can retain these highly qualified employees. We have an employee with worn-out knees who has difficulty bending and walking. This employee often ended up on sick leave. Now he works fully with the image care team and is fully recovered."

Shortage of healthcare personnel

De Vrij: "People don't choose careers in healthcare for no reason. It's great if, despite physical limitations, they can continue to practice their profession in a viable way that suits them. Given the growing shortage of care personnel, it is crucial that we treat these professionals with care and look at how we can make the best use of them. Offering remote care through image-based care is an excellent example.
